First Round

The first round match-ups have been determined!

The rules for the tournament are the following: each trainer may use up to three Pokemon in a series of single battles. Pokemon may be switched in and out at any time. No Enlightened abilities or items may be used in these battles, including passive abilities. (Of course, you may cheat ICly, but this will be frowned upon and may lead to disqualification depending on the severity of the infraction.)

We need a winner from each pairing by 2/26, so please post the results of your match here whenever you've decided on a winner. If we have not received a decision by this time, we'll need to randomize a winner. If you are having difficulty getting ahold of your partner, let us know with a PM and we'll work something out. You may, of course, continue to backtag past this date; we don't actually expect that people will finish their matches so quickly ICly.

The IC post for the first round will go up tomorrow at midnight. There are 12 participants, so there will be 6 making it into the second round and 3 winners representing Union. These 3 winners will have a match against Team Evolution at the end. Since this event depends a lot upon player-player interactions, please do make an effort to keep the threads going!

Ezreal is fielding Spark the Elekid, Smasher the Boldore, and Jungler the Liepard.

Ack! I didn't even notice this come up but Marisa would be using Spark (Her Jolteon), Yuuka (Cherubi) and Magus (Ghastly) in the fight. I need to update her pokemon but she's been training up for a while so it could really go either way.

Regardless of whether Hiroshi wins or loses here, I'd like at least one scene where his Butterfree finally realizes that turtling her way through fights is a REALLY terrible idea. Anything beyond that, I'm fair game.

...Yeeeeaaaaah, Imogen is going to be 'that guy' and start with a LV25 Tyrantrum and Stealth Rock.

Levi only has two Pokemon that can fight (his Goomy is only level 1 and freshly hatched,) but his venipede just evolved into whirlipede and his swinub is pretty brutal. i'm up for him losing! but he'll totally put up a huge fight. pokemon info is here!

levi may or may not also be willing to treat as per his old underground thug habits so we could work this out him getting caught too lmao

Well, on one hand Fai has three pokémon that are able to fight (<a href="http://the-crazy-one.dreamwidth.org/2197.html>Babycakes, Mr Sunshine and Woolly</a>). On the other hand, he is Fai, and while he's skillful when he wants to, the likelihood of him taking the whole thing seriously is pretty slim to say the least. And Levi is Levi. Meaning that if Fai starts to think that it's too much of a bother/gets worried about his precious angel pokémon breaking a nail, he will most likely abruptly give up and cede the victory to the more invested party. Would that be an acceptable outcome? ^^

Yang's got two Pokémon available to her for the tournament: a level 18 Eevee and a level 16 Misdreavus! I can go either way with victory or defeat.

Sync as of the day of the first round only has Scherzo the Fletchling and to be frank; he isn't here to win anyway. He's just brushing up on people he'll have to actually be able to compete with one day. I'm up for him completely throwing the fight because he'll need to run away anyway because of family.

The result is ~~Stealth Rock is a dick move~~ Imogen wins.

But mostly agreed by all that Stealth Rock is a dick move.

There's a reason it's not a TM anymore.

Winner: Feliks.

Reimu wins by default because Sync throws the match/leaves half way through when there was no clear winner.

Winner: Melaka in a close match.

We are requesting a randomization! Likely the battle will be very close, and our Elekid and Jolteon (both named Spark) will be dueling each other.
