First Round

The first round match-ups have been determined!

The rules for the tournament are the following: each trainer may use up to three Pokemon in a series of single battles. Pokemon may be switched in and out at any time. No Enlightened abilities or items may be used in these battles, including passive abilities. (Of course, you may cheat ICly, but this will be frowned upon and may lead to disqualification depending on the severity of the infraction.)

We need a winner from each pairing by 2/26, so please post the results of your match here whenever you've decided on a winner. If we have not received a decision by this time, we'll need to randomize a winner. If you are having difficulty getting ahold of your partner, let us know with a PM and we'll work something out. You may, of course, continue to backtag past this date; we don't actually expect that people will finish their matches so quickly ICly.

The IC post for the first round will go up tomorrow at midnight. There are 12 participants, so there will be 6 making it into the second round and 3 winners representing Union. These 3 winners will have a match against Team Evolution at the end. Since this event depends a lot upon player-player interactions, please do make an effort to keep the threads going!

Hi.

The three she is going to be using as Lurks the Croagunk, Slugger the Phanpy, and Sneak the Phantump.

Ky just has Jacob the Bulbasaur and Isaac the Mareep for now, though I'm debating on having him bond with a third or just intensive train.

Well offhand without knowing levels or attacks or abilities or any of that a few bullet points:

- Slugger's Natural Gift is an Ice Type and I'd love for that to be a surprise strike against Jacob because nothing else on her team is well suited to fight that
- Sneak would be confusing every old thing as best she is able with switch outs.
- Lurks has some annoying moves too with Foul Play and Revenge.

Though that's only initial thoughts we should talk more stuff

-Isaac has static, so direct contact may paralyze on contact, and has thunder wave if the opponent kept their distance.

-Jacob's got leech seed.

I'm up for any results, Ky's experienced, but he is one pokemon short.

Melaka... is less experienced! But she is mastery of battle, even if she's not aware of it yet and either way it falls I'd love for her to start getting an incling of that with like figuring out the best ways to handle things intuitively. Hence all those tricky moves.

That said Lurks is totally going to be taken out by Isaac.

So probably knock two of Melaka's mons out, and barely knocking both of Ky's - giving her a close victory?
