First Round
The first round match-ups have been determined!
The rules for the tournament are the following: each trainer may use up to three Pokemon in a series of single battles. Pokemon may be switched in and out at any time. No Enlightened abilities or items may be used in these battles, including passive abilities. (Of course, you may cheat ICly, but this will be frowned upon and may lead to disqualification depending on the severity of the infraction.)
We need a winner from each pairing by 2/26, so please post the results of your match here whenever you've decided on a winner. If we have not received a decision by this time, we'll need to randomize a winner. If you are having difficulty getting ahold of your partner, let us know with a PM and we'll work something out. You may, of course, continue to backtag past this date; we don't actually expect that people will finish their matches so quickly ICly.
The IC post for the first round will go up tomorrow at midnight. There are 12 participants, so there will be 6 making it into the second round and 3 winners representing Union. These 3 winners will have a match against Team Evolution at the end. Since this event depends a lot upon player-player interactions, please do make an effort to keep the threads going!

I suppose we could at least make it interesting. Martena has a couple of stat-effect stuff, and Guertena has Reflect. It'll probably still be a curb stomp, but at least it'll be marginally less of one, and we can do a dragon vs. dragon deal. Takuro also has Leer and Scary Face. In the end, it'll probably all be going all out against one holy-shit monster, but hey.

So... Her first trick'll be Stealth Rock then Roar to force at least one swap. After that a mix of just horrible horrible pain from Bite and Earthquake until Bluescale is too debuffed to fight.
Probably letting Stonewall build some defenses (Misty Terrain and Reflect) before striking back with Magical Leaf or Double Slap.
Sandtrap is for clean-up if something terrible happens, as it has the least to offer on offense or defense (except shrugging).
