Brave New World OOC Comm

And so, here we are. With the conclusion of our final event, Sheepy and I will be departing from this game. We had a lot of fun putting this together and running it for you all, and it is hard to leave it all behind but unfortunately our own life adventures are taking us in a different direction (one involving a lot less sleep and money, but hopefully eventually the latter will sort itself out).

We’ve been running games together for years, and I have to say this is probably among if not the best experience we’ve had. The community has been truly fantastic, and never would I have dreamed that it would take the setting and values we tried to instill in the game to heart and with such gusto. As a creator, I truly cannot ask for anything more than that. So while it’s sad to leave, having seen the community and worked with the current mods, I know you guys are in good hands. I can’t wait to see where you go from here, and I am confident that a new team at the helm without me standing over their shoulder nitpicking everything will be able to do some amazing things with this game. Thanks for everything, Brave New World! Keep on looking forward, and we’ll meet again at the end of your journey!

It’s hard to believe that it’s been two and a half years since we started this game, and while the baton has been tossed to what I truly believe is one of the nicest, most wonderful mod team that I’ve had the honor of working with, it’s still bittersweet for me to leave this game behind. Brave New World was my home game for quite some time, a place where the players always made me feel welcome, made me laugh, and, most importantly, treated me like a friend.

With this, I will be retiring from modding games. It feels strange thinking about, since I’ve been doing this for so long (2010 wow!), but I think it’s time for me to just be a player. I know that our paths will cross again, either on Plurk or in the Dreamwidth circuit as a whole. Thank you everyone for making these two and a half years a rewarding and wonderful experience. I’m sure we’ll meet again ♥︎

As mentioned in the IC post, the time has come for the people of Union and their allies to defend their home against the Gigan army. While a randomizer option exists for those who’d prefer that, players are encouraged to form their own groups for this event.

Please sign up for groups using the top-levels below. You may also use this post to recruit more members for your group. If your character has a particular strategy in mind they’d like to employ against Gigas, please mention it so your group members know what to expect from the log. Maybe your strategies will work well together!

We would like to see no more than 5 people to a group. If your character would rather participate in scouting or information relay than the battle itself, please sign up in the appropriate mod-created top-levels. The signup deadline for all groups is 7/15.

Hey everyone, Void here. While this has unfortunately been a long time coming, it’s not an idea I relish. I am sad to announce that Sheepy and I will be stepping down from modding this wonderful game. I’ve been running games since about 2007, so this is a big deal but as Sheepy and I become more and more busy with the business we’re trying to build and our normal jobs, something had to give and unfortunately this is it.

Creating Brave New World was probably one of my favorite setting developments ever, getting to take something beloved by so many people and changing it in new and interesting ways - and to have a player base respond to those changes and really make the setting their own and commit to the ideas we put forward was truly humbling. This was my final game, and seeing how it’s grown and all it’s achieved, I can say without a doubt that it is also the best Sheepy and I have ever created.

I won’t be leaving immediately. While we will no longer be playing active characters, we will be remaining for the conclusion of the Gigas event, as well as one final event, the event I’ve been looking forward to since we created this game. I may be leaving, but I promise to depart with a bang!

Thank you everyone for playing in and enjoying this wonderful game, it really meant the world to us. We’ll still be around, albeit much busier, but I hope to watch this game continue to grow and expand. It’ll be sad to do so from a distance, but I know the remaining mods, and whoever they select as our successors, will do a fantastic job with it. I look forward to seeing what they come up with! Thanks for everything! We’ll still be around for a few more months, so plenty of time to say goodbye, and we’ll have some final statements after we wrap up our last event as well.
