Attack on Caldera event info
The Map Expand is now live! You may check it out on the Map Post. You will note that currently, only one new area has opened. As the expedition progresses, two more new areas will open up - the Desert, and the city of Caldera. This will encompass the entirety of the initial group traveling to Caldera, and for the first three days those areas will ONLY be open to the party traveling to Caldera. Once Caldera is reached and the Warp Marker has been set up, they will open up to the rest of the game. All other areas will not open up until player plots are completed to explore them. While players may plan them now, we won’t be starting any new plots to open areas until after this event has finished.
The objective of this event will be to convince the Gigas troops to withdraw from Caldera, and hopefully gain an ally in the process. As such, we are being up-front with the steps and general planned timeline of this event so plans can be made. Note these won’t be all of the event postings going up, but this is intended to give an idea of what to be planning for.
5/24: Sign-ups for the advance party to Caldera open, Flower Grove area opens for advance party members
5/25: Desert opens for advance party members
5/26: Arrive in Caldera, sign-ups for the advance party close. Flower Grove, Desert, and Caldera open to all players for bonding. Meetings begin to determine the way to proceed begin.
5/29: Begin response to Gigas threat
6/1: Gigas responds to Union and Caldera action
6/4: Tentative event end, depending on log progress. Post-event results and rewards announced.
There will be several general options available to players, both in and out of Caldera.
-Diplomacy: Attempt to peacefully convince Gigas forces to back down.
-Aggression: Through guerilla tactics, cripple Gigas supply lines and force them away.
Note: Depending on the actions in the Diplomacy or Aggression threads, they can impact each other.
-Refugees: There will be a large amount of refugees to be evacuated from Caldera and escorted back to Union. This has a Caldera and Union component, those in Caldera will need to provide the escort service whereas those in Union will need to prepare shelter and supplies for them when they arrive.
-Supply Lines: Those in Union will need to depart and move supplies of food and medicine up to Caldera to help them withstand the siege.
This post will be open to planning, we encourage people to decide what they would like to do to take part in the event. Please note, while this event is not mandatory no rewards will be issued to characters who do not take part. While these are the routes we’ve identified, players are encouraged to come up with other avenues to address the event organically.
Additionally, any characters hailing from Gigas are eligible for a bit more setting information, they may contact the mod team if they wish to have it. The suggested method of contact is sending a Plurk message to all moderators.

Plotting
Re: Plotting
Not sure what Hiroshi will do. He has a bad habit of being a tad neutral on these sorts of things. Again, open to suggestions.

He's also an Engineer so he should probably be able to help with the technology.

I'm also wondering if I can't figure out a way to get Wukong his trademark staff out of this somehow...
Morgiana, after her all her talk about wanting a job that DOESN'T involve fighting, is going to also jump on the first opportunity to do so. She does not like Gigas. Because of reasons.
Overall, I figure I'll at best get one character on the advance party, it's just a question of which one. I could go either way. Let's say Morgiana for that if no one has any cool ideas that involve Wukong, and Wukong will show up later.

Eve - Aggression team. She won't be very stealthy about it, but with her and her team's electrical attacks and simply brute force, they should be able to help tremendously.
Renko - Diplomacy. Being a former resident of Gigas, she feels it's her responsibility to help and try to set things right.

Tolkien Swords plotting post.
Garen's announcement is here.
So far he's of the mind that one Commander or almost Commander needs to stay. Feel free to convince him otherwise, as of right now that means that either him, Ky, or Hans needs to stay, as I said that's up for debate and changing of minds, if not, I am okay with Garen not going(and passing Chie into the care of either Hans or Ky. ='D) but if you want him on board and am up for changing his mind, let us do a thing. Let us also discuss what the hell we plan to do once the Swords get there, and with that, bed.

So he'll probably end up either making life harder for the diplomatic side, or with the attackers.

or basically: an empath on the diplomacy team can only be the best/worst thing possible, right? It'd definitely be a first major trip outside the city to remember, if that's the case...
Re: Plotting
She will be joining the advance party along with helping the aggression forces likely depending on how things goes. Her main focus would be make sure the fighting stops and no innocents/comrades and their Pokémon got hurt.
Alice:
Still thinking on her, she might sneak out on her parents wishes and tag along with the Swords of Savior as her magical girl form, Cure Rosetta and help however she can.
This is a chance to reveal that Alice = Cure Rosetta to certain CR, but need to talk before things like that happen. Alice wants to keep it from public information, but she wouldn't mind telling a few people if they can keep their mouths shut.
edit: ALSO ITS EVOLUTION WEEK FOR HER aka she's able to create a giant shield isn't that handy

Jinxie is going to work on the supply lines shuttling stuff back and forth. She's not much for front line combat and has over 20 Pokemon at her disposal, so she's fairly well-suited for this.
Merrill will be assisting refugees on the Union end of things, helping them get temporary housing and food and whatnot.
Squid Girl, for the moment, probably won't be getting deeply involved in this, but could be convinced by the right people.
I welcome planning for any and all of my characters!

Meanwhile, I haven't decided if Arietta is going to do anything that all. She might go for Refugee Protection because protecting people is a good thing. But not sure yet.
Re: Plotting
Lea is going to be helping Roxas and Xion with refugee duty!
Re: Plotting
Also if your name is like Orion or Asch or some other lame name he will pretend not to know you and/or make you swear never to tell a soul because he's going back to his family like a good brother after this settles down.
Also if you're his supply guy, this is why it was probably best you never asked questions.

Luc here with Maya! For the first part of the event, I'll be busy moving into a new apartment/heading to my parents' house for medical reasons. However, after that I'll be free, and I'm having Maya join Jinxie on the supply lines!
She's not going to let her cousin go without her, after all.
