Hello, everyone!  It's Brantron again, player of Jinxie Tenma, Squid Girl, Chie Satonaka, and until very recently, Sollux Captor, who turned out to be too much of an introverted grump to be much fun to play.  But today I am bringing you his replacement - Merrill from Dragon Age 2.

In her original canon, Merrill was a Dalish Elf in training to be the next Keeper of her clan until she was thrown out for learning blood magic and making deals with demons for power in an effort to restore her peoples' lost history.  They were totally friendly demons who just wanted to help, she assured them, but turns out that sort of thing is frowned upon.  Who knew.  So she got the boot and joined up with Hawke and his crew to cause shenanigans in Kirkwall instead.

Here, she's a member of a nomadic and somewhat insular tribe of humans that's currently camped northeast of Union.  Instead of dealing with demons, she sold her soul to a Spiritomb her clan had imprisoned 500 years ago during the time of the Savior in exchange for power and knowledge.  Once the clan found out, she was similarly thrown out, and found her way to Union shortly thereafter.  She's got an inert Keystone with her containing the still-slumbering Spiritomb, and will be unwisely unsealing and bonding with it later during the time of her first evolution.  Good times.

Merrill is a Child of the Verdant Forest aligned with the Fairy and Dark types, and her starters are a Nincada and a Murkrow.  I'll probably have an IC intro up for her today or tomorrow.  Looking forward to throwing her at you all!

You never know. Hawke's group is full of assholes, so it isn't as if there's no precedent for it in Merrill's life.

Actually Luke would be super interested in someone from outside Union, since his parents refuse to even let him leave the walls a tiny bit without super vision.

Merrill would happily talk about it, although she'd probably be inclined to downplay everything because she doesn't think her life has been all that interesting.

Wow the map expansion is going to be really cool when we get it because there'll be all these human communities just outside of what Union had explored.

Yeah, we're getting a lot of outsiders lately. It's pretty awesome.

Fun fact: Merrill's ancestors were enslaved for hundreds of years by the ancestors of the people of Gigas!

Yeah Melaka's been focusing on every last one like "WHOA MAN WHOA" because of the paradigm shift in her world view to see more people not from Union seeing as how three months ago she thought they were the only ones . . . . And like any good slayer even if she isn't one here ( though I keep wondering if I should ask the mods if I can retroactively work that in somehow but probably no point ) she's got a big prohuman stance thing. Gut feeling.

MERRILL MY LOVE MY ANGEL omg I wish I had someone to really bond with her. Technically I have Atsuro who's ready to make friends with everyone!! buuut I'm not sure how it'd actually go. Satsuki might take an interest in Merrill because she's from outside the Union, too, but they probably wouldn't really get along, unless Merrill is excited to learn about beating people. also now we need Varric and Isabela for sass team

I feel like Merrill would frustrate Satsuki pretty quickly, but I can see her getting along with Atsuro if he's patient with her.
