Welcome to January’s Brave New(s) World post! Here you’ll find a collection of information concerning events planned and ongoing throughout the month, as well as January-specific OOC announcements, swarms and other information and important links!

OOC ANNOUNCEMENTS
Below are a few housekeeping things that are going on throughout the month of January. Here you'll find information about our calendar for the month, activity check, and other important news.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
With the start of a New Year, Union is still in a rather festive mood. Celebrations will begin winding down and people will gradually start getting back to their normal routines.

GOOD THINGS COME IN FOURS
A mysterious visitor will be coming Union from a far-away place in mid-January, to act as embassy as well as begin forging a bond between the two groups. This visit will be unannounced ICly, and will lead into the upcoming event.

Level Cap and Hinterlands now open for bonding.:
With the exploration of the Hinterlands, the Level Cap is now 67, 5 levels above the highest Danger level (currently 62 with the Hinterlands). Player characters are now free to bond Pokemon in the Hinterlands, though intensive searches will not be open until January 17th.

ACTIVITY CHECK
ACTIVITY CHECK IS LIVE
We seem to have misplaced our normal activity check. Thankfully, the Delibirds had a spare that we could borrow. It’s a little different from the usual activity check, so be sure to read the post carefully!

UPCOMING EVENTS AND HOLIDAYS
The following will be taking place over the month of January only, and may or may not be accompanied with a mod-run log. These include game-wide events, player plots and holidays celebrated around the map. Participation is encouraged but by no means required.

THE ELITE FOUR
January 17th - January 30th
Visitors from the east will be visiting Union, representing a mysterious organization known as the Elite Four...

ONGOING EVENTS
These mini events have no active expiration date, and will continue until they are resolved, and may or may not have a lasting impact on the game as a whole. These mini-events can be initiated by any players in the game through a plot request (submitted here), and may garner the attention of an event-specific NPC, so be on guard!

MAP EXPAND
With the recent signal expansion, there are still many areas yet to be explored! Trainers seeking new discoveries or experiences are encouraged to check them out!
CURRENT AREAS UNEXPLORED: Frozen Delta, Western Coast, The Great Crater

SWARM WATCH!
A swarm will appear in a location for two weeks. Pokémon in a swarm act as an Ultra Common to that area and scale with their level. Requests for a swarm Pokémon can be made in the Map Post for that particular week. Players are not required to make a post in the swarm area, but are highly encouraged. Shiny chaining does apply to swarms, and works the same way as in other areas. Swarm Pokémon are not eligible for blurbs and will follow the general behavior provided.

ABSOL | MOUNTAINS
Level 12
Something is disturbing the Absol population, driving them out of their seclusion in the mountains and making them more active and restless. Absol bonded during the swarm will all be extreme doomsayers, preaching the end of the world and certain death. They will all seem just a little addled, and will rant and rave about insane things from time to time, like a “five legged sandshrew in the moon.” or “A spearow with wings that beat like whispered thunder” The cryptic warnings will continue long after any danger has passed but it’s not a constant barrage.

CRYOGONAL | FOREST SHRINE
Level 8
A large number of Cryogonal, driven away from the mountains by the Absol swarms will take up a temporary residence at the Forest Shrine. The area will be covered in heavy snowfall and extremely cold temperatures. Bonded Cryogonal are characterized by extreme nervousness around new people. They’re friendly, yes, but shy and unwilling to engage strangers without a lot of coaxing. They seem worried about something, but are unwilling to say what, just that they want to stay close to their trainers.
